Polygon College was established on 2010 which offers masters program in mass communication and Journalism affiliated with Purbanchal University. College is managed by young, experienced and professional Media persons and academicians with well equipped lab and infrastructures. College is composed of renowned lecturers, famous media persons and enthusiastic youth and working media persons as students and stands as leading media college of Nepal.
In near future college will introduce bachelor courses in communication and information technology too.
College’s sister organization Polygon Institute of communication will conduct media and communication trainings ,workshops, seminars and media festivals.
Principal & Founder: Abeeral Thapa

Mr. Abeeral Thapa is the Principal of Polygon College. He holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Purbanchal University, Biratnagar, and a second Master’s degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu.
He is an alumna (scholar) of the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI), 2016, where he convened with scholars from various media organizations and universities at Ohio University, USA, to discuss emerging trends and challenges in media and media institutions in the United States. He also represented Nepal as filmmaker from Nepal at The “Belt & Road” International Film Education Alliance 2018 in Beijing and Haikou,China.
Mr. Thapa is a renowned columnist associated with Kantipur Publications. His regular column, “Muktaaakash,”published in the national weekly Saptahik, has been widely appreciated. He is also the Chairperson of Awaken Production (P.) Ltd., which produced the Nepali feature film “BULBUL.” The film won National Awards for Best Director and Best Actress (2018/2019) and was selected as Nepal’s official entry for the 92nd Academy Awards (2019).
A well-known lyricist, Mr. Thapa wrote lyrics for the SAARC Film Festival silver medal–winning film “Saanghuro” (2013), which also received the National Award for Best Film the same year. In addition to songwriting, he writes extensively on social and youth-related issues, as well as travelogues, all of which have been widely appreciated.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a Program Producer at Sagarmatha Television and Avenues Television, and contributed to various magazines and newspapers. He has been actively engaged in the media sector in diverse capacities since 2000.
Mr. Thapa is one of the producers of the film “The World’s Happiest Man,” based on Bhutanese immigrants and shot in the United States under SAG-AFTRA. The film features Hollywood actor Bruce Dern and Nepal’s veteran actor Hari Bansa Acharya, was screened in April 2025, and is now available on Amazon Prime. This Film named Bhuthan in Nepal received Ficson Award 2025 for Best Actor Award, Best Cinematography Award and Best Editor Award, by Film Critics Society of Nepal.
Currently, he is working on a new film project scheduled for theatrical release by the end of 2026. Alongside his creative endeavors, Mr. Thapa also serves as a Media Consultant for various media and social organizations.
Founder : Bijay Paudel

Bijay Paudel has worked as News Chief in Kantipur Television,AP1 Television and Image Channel . He is armed with a Master Degree in Sociology/ Anthropology and Journalism and Mass Communication, and a Bachelor in Law. Paudel started his career in Nepali media since 1999. He is renowned for his television show SAROKAR in Kantipur TV. Awarded with most popular News Anchor by Television Art Workers Association of Nepal, he is also a licensed Advocate by Nepal Bar Council Nepal.
Founder: Sujan Karki

Sujan Karki worked as Marketing head in Kantipur Media Group,News 24 Television and Radio Sagarmatha, South Asia’s first community radio. He has a Masters in Business Studies and Master in Mass Communication and Journalism. He worked as Managing Director & Training Co-ordinator in Active Media. He also worked as Marketing Manager/Producer in past for HBC 94 fm. Moreover, he has acted in several television films, Tele-Advertisement and Music Videos.
Founder: Ashim Shah

Ashim Shah is now Political Advisor of Nepal’s Prime Minister Honourable Mr. Balen Shah. He was a member of parliament representing from Rastriya swatantra party. He started his career from Nepal1 channel in the year 2003 as producer of program like “Bhurabhuri Ko Halla”, “Loveline” and “Face the Nation” along with various live events and live program. Also, he worked as a correspondent for news department (on entertainment beat) in Nepal1. He has also presented and produced program like “Travel Chat” and “Music Star” for Nepal1. During his tenure in Nepal1, he has worked as senior producer and Bureau chief for entertainment section.
G21 Production is a mutual venture between Ashim Shah and Ashif Shah, which he started from the year 2003. Under the wing of G21, Ashim Shah directed the Movie Dui Rupaiya and has been the associate director of short film “Sonam”,and feature length movie “karkash” has directed the documentary “Kallidevi” (a documentary on an alleged witch), has directed “20 years of Ceapred” (video based on agriculture and its products), has directed several music videos, social and corporate videos and more than100 television commercials.
Founder: Sudin Pokharel

He worked as Sports Reporter, anchor & Producer for Kantipur Television. He is also a song writer, famous performer- with Nepali Rap Music since a Decade with his well known band Unity. He also achieved various awards with his music career. He is settled in Australia now.

Community/ Volunteer Work The College encourage students to conduct various awareness rising and interaction programs in different disciplines in order to inform the society with on-going social, political and economic situation to create the pressure in the concerned sector of either in the government, non- governmental or private sectors. Interaction with media organizations will be encouraged. College will organize charity shows, fetes, blood donation program and public awareness program on a regular basis. |

Research Projects and Training
Each student will be assigned with a research project in each semester. The college will name a supervisor for each semester project’s to guide the student. The supervisors will help to formulate the projects. The college will develop appropriate research and training program designed to develop students ‘skills for their future advancement.
Linkage with National and International institution/Personalities
The College will develop link with different media houses and other contemporary colleges of the country, advertising agencies and various social organizations, Department of Communication, Journalist Federation of Nepal, Nepal Press Institute, Nepal Bar Association, Ministry of Information and Communication, National Planning Commission, various media houses and personalities too .Besides this, the college has plans to establish collaboration with international universities and institutions for academic development . The college will
manage internship facility in various media houses relating to students subject and interest.
